Colleen R. “Coke” Hicks, of Custer, passed away on April 10, 2015.
She was born in Custer on September 8, 1937. She was the youngest of 10 children, born to Harry S. and June E. (Larson) Treloar. Like her mother, Coke was appreciated as a good cook (her cinnamon rolls were legendary). She was a number one fan of Dylan’s hockey team the Rushmore Thunder and fully enjoyed cheering for the team and her dear great grandson as goalie. She also enjoyed LISTENING to her great granddaughter Hailey play all her musical instruments, especially at Christmas time. She was a woman of faith, and lived her life with a sense of humor and loved her family.
Coke is survived by one daughter; Dixie (Wayne) Augustine, her grand-daughter; Stephanie (Cory) Polzine, niece; Donna (David) Treloar, who she also raised. Grand children; Jason (Laryssa) James, Jeremy (Julie) James, Randa (Carlos) Augustine, Amanda (Steve) Smith, two sisters; Ramona Hausman and Patricia Talich, eleven great grand children and numerous nieces and nephews.
Coke was preceded in death by her husband, Earl W. Hicks, her parents, five brothers; Waldo, Elgin, Ronald, Lowell, Donald and two sisters; Darlene Ennis and Dorothy Voorhees.
A memorial will be held at a later date in Custer.
A special thank you to Rapid City Regional Hospice and the nurses who took care of her, and to her grand-daughter Stephine for caring for her until her passing.
