Artist’s gift for giving continues after he is gone

HOT SPRINGS – When Hot Springs resident and artist Franz Brown passed away in October 2019, he not only left many broken hearts, he left an art legacy that lives on today. 

Brown, immortalized in paintings by Tom Browning as Santa Claus, embraced not only the look but the heart of Santa Claus.

HOT SPRINGS – A 50-year-old Hot Springs woman has been identified as the person who died late Saturday night, Sept. 4, in a two-vehicle crash 12 miles northeast of Hot Springs.

Preliminary crash information indicates that a 2020 Harley-Davidson Street Glide motorcycle was southbound on South Dakota Highway 79 when the motorcycle struck a deer that had ran onto the roadway.
