HOT SPRINGS – It was a pumpkin lover’s delight Friday and Saturday in Centennial Park as children and families perused the vast field of pumpkins and decorative gourds at the first annual Stunningham Farms pumpkin patch.

“It’s rewarding to see the families come out to this event,” said co-event coordinator Rob Stanton. “It allowed families to plan an activity to spend the day together.”

Along with the hundreds of pumpkins and gourds, there was cotton candy, face painting, costume contests and more.

Abby McMillian, 5, of Hot Springs picked a pumpkin so large she could barely hold it, but couldn’t stop at one and informed her big sister that she was going to pick one for her too. “I will pick the perfect one!” she exclaimed.

Stunningham Farms is a local organic farm that began as a hobby farm to support the two families – Rob and April Stanton and Jackson and Krystal Cunningham – but with local demand for organic farm products “the farm has quadrupled in size for the past three years and produces 126 kinds of vegetables now which is sold at venues such as farmer’s markets. The community support has been phenomenal,” said Stanton.

“Creating the pumpkin patch for the community has been so rewarding,” said Stanton, “just one way we can give back to the community who has supported us so much.”
